ROSEMARY OIL USED IN AROMATHERAPY

ROSEMARY OIL  USED IN AROMATHERAPY :


  • It is volatile oil obtained from steam distillation from the leaves and flowers   of Rosmarinus officinalis            ( Labiatae). Rosemary is a favorite of Egyptians, Romans and Greeks as it symbolized love and death as per their beliefs. It is a shrub plant grows up to 3 feet or so in height, evergreen. Its flowers are blue, white and leaves of grey-green colour.

Rosemary - its oil is clear in appearance with a very strong camphoric aroma.  The oil is mainly used in perfumery industry and aromatherapy.

  • Aromatherapy: It is an excellent stimulant particularly to stimulate memory and enhance blood circulation. It is also used with advantages in colds, bronchitis’s, burns, headaches, obesity, diarrhea, and dandruff; it is used in massage, baths and inhalation. To seek relief in headaches and fatigue, drop a few drops on a handkerchief and inhale

Note: it should never be used by hypertensive patients and early stage of pregnancy. In the above mentioned conditions its oil should be used in quit low concentration, otherwise its higher dose may trigger convulsions or epileptic attacks/ fits.
